Department Retreat

2nd Annual Electrical Engineering Retreat hosted by the Ming Hsieh Institute was on Saturday, October 27 - Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa

The EE Retreat brings faculty and Ph.D. students together in a social environment to receive updates regarding the department's research accomplishments across the board and to discuss and collaborate on defining the future of Electrical Engineering at USC and beyond.

Saturday, October 27
10:00am Buses depart UPC from 37th Street & McClintock Avenue (bus ticket required)
1:00pm ETA at the resort, *hotel check-in and MHI information/check-in table set up in ballroom foyer
1- 5:00pm Free time, lunch on own
5:00pm Cocktail Reception & Halloween Themed Banquet Dinner (pick-up your name badge from MHI information desk)
7 00pm Halloween Costume Banquet Dinner - ballroom

*Hotel check-in is at 4:00pm but they will accommodate early check-in based on availability

Sunday, October 28
8:00 am - Continental breakfast
10:00am - Welcome, introduction, and review of MHI activities
10:15am - MHI-sponsored thematic research on networks using a large-scale software programmable radio test-bed by Konstantinos Psounis
10:30am - Panel session: Electrical Engineering Education for 2020 & Beyond
12:00pm - Lunch
1:30pm - 2011-12 recap by Department Chairs
2:00pm - Panel session: Energy
3:15pm - Panel Session: MHI Ph.D. Scholars & faculty
4:30pm - Closing remarks and departure to USC by own car or MHI provided buses (ETA 7:00pm)

Registration is closed
Tickets include overnight room accommodations in a standard room (Choice of King or 2 Queen beds if not shared) and all agenda activities (breakfast, lunch & dinner). Limited tickets available.

Invited: electrical engineering faculty, PhD students, post-docs, research associates, alumni & their families.
