With over 70 full time faculty, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at USC allows students to pursue research in virtually all branches of EE/CE. Ph.D candidates have the chance to work in the labs of leading researchers in fields including Communication Sciences, Computer Architecture, Computer Engineering, Controls, Electromagnetics, Integrated Circuits and VLSI Analog Design, MEMS, Multimedia, Nanotechnology, Networks, Photonics, Quantum Electronics and Optics, Plasmas, Quantum Information Processing, Signal Processing, VLSI Design, and Power Systems. Our graduate curriculum is structured to prepare students for research ranging from the highly theoretical to more applied topics.

Interdisciplinary research is also strongly encouraged and supported at the Ph.D. level at USC. The strength of our program is reflected in the quality of our graduates who have gone on to positions of leadership in business and academia in the U.S. and throughout the world.
