Name of Honor/Award: IEEE Fellow Organization Sponsor: IEEE Award Description: Professor Konstantinos Psounis has been named an IEEE Fellow for his contributions to multi-hop wireless networks. The IEEE Grade of Fellow is conferred by the IEEE Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. The total number selected in any one year cannot exceed one-tenth of one- percent of the total voting membership. Significance of Award: IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and an important career achievement. The IEEE is the world’s leading professional association for advancing technology for humanity. Through its 400,000 plus members in 160 countries, the association is a leading authority on a wide variety of areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics. Dedicated to the advancement of technology, the IEEE publishes 30 percent of the world’s literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields, and has developed more than 1300 active industry standards. The association also sponsors or co-sponsors nearly 1700 international technical conferences each year. Chair's Quote: Congratulations!
Fellow of the American Physical Society Each year a small number of members of the American Physical Society are elected by their peers as APS Fellows. This is an honor comparable to other fellowships. American Physical Society
Name of Honor/Award: American Physical Society Outstanding Referee Organization Sponsor: American Physical Society Award Description: Recognizes the best peer reviewers for all American Physical Society journals, over years of service. Date Awarded: Significance of Award: Instituted in 2008, the Outstanding Referee program annually recognizes approximately 150 of the currently active referees for their invaluable work. Comparable to Fellowship in the APS and other organizations, this is a lifetime award. The selection this year was made from 30 years of records on over 57,000 referees who have been called upon to review manuscripts, including more then 35,000 that were submitted in 2016. The basis for the Outstanding Referees selection takes into account the quality, number and timeliness of a referee’s reports, without regard for membership in the APS, country of origin, or field of research. Individuals with current or very recent direct connections to the journals, such as editors and editorial board members, were excluded. Chair's Quote: Thanks for your exceptional service to the intellectual community! Name of Honor/Award: Fellow of the American Physical Society Organization Sponsor: American Physical Society Award Description: Each year a small number of members of the American Physical Society are elected by their peers as APS Fellows. This is an honor comparable to other fellowships, e.g., IEEE or ACM. Date Awarded: Significance of Award: The criterion for election is exceptional contributions to the physics enterprise; e.g., outstanding physics research, important applications of physics, leadership in or service to physics, or significant contributions to physics education. Fellowship is a distinct honor signifying recognition by one's professional peers. Chair's Quote: Congratulations!
Name of Honor/Award: Fellow of the American Physical Society Organization Sponsor: American Physical Society Award Description: For profound contributions to stability and flow control, and the application of control-theoretic and optimization techniques to the analysis of wall-bounded shear flows, drag reduction, and viscoelastic fluids. Significance of Award: The criterion for election is exceptional contributions to the physics enterprise; e.g., outstanding physics research, important applications of physics, leadership in or service to physics, or significant contributions to physics education. The number of APS Fellows elected each year is limited to no more than one half of one percent of the membership. Fellowship is a distinct honor signifying recognition by one's professional peers. Chair's Quote: Congratulations! A well deserved recognition of your contributions to analysis and control of fluid flows.
