Integrated Circuits and Systems deals with integrated realization of complex functions on semiconductor substrates in a compact form-factor known as a “chip”. Integrated circuits are the core of consumer electronic devices such as smartphones, smartwatches, game consoles; automobiles, airplanes, spacecraft, and ships; IT, telecommunications, and datacenters; medical devices and instrumentation; and robots to name a few. Ongoing research activities include integrated circuits that enable future-generation wireless communication systems (5G, 6G, and beyond), energy-efficient high-speed wireline communication systems (e.g., for datacenters), biomedical implants (e.g., neural interfaces), self-driving cars and drones (e.g., radar, lidar), machine learning and artificial intelligence, etc.
