At USC and the city of Los Angeles, you have an opportunity to be at the center of collusion between creative minds and technical minds – and that’s where things get exciting.  Electrical engineers are exposed to ideas from so many disciplines that whenever we come up against a problem, we can draw from a vast collection of experiences.  Here are just a few of the big challenges we’re working on.

Electrical Engineering and Smartphones

Hardware design, chip design, software design, screens, cameras and microprocessors. It’s all done in electrical engineering. If you want to build something new that will shape an entire industry, this is place to do it.

Electrical Engineering and The Brain

Diagnosing Autism, Addiction, and Mental Health. Improving MRI resolution by a factor of 30 to better detect disease. Building brain-machine interfaces to convert human thoughts into movement. These are some of the ways Electrical Engineers are unlocking the brain.

Electrical Engineering and Green Energy

Our life is intertwined with how we use electricity – how we  generate and consume energy is one of the biggest problems of our day.  These questions need a lot of engineers working from a lot of angles. The great thing about this field is that you can approach it from so many directions and find the aspect that resonates with you.
