NEGT Symposium
Organizer: Rahul Jain
Sponsored: Fall 2011
This annual event has raised the profile of the hosting institutions in the area, and lead to development of a thriving local research community. It also gives our graduate students exposure to high quality research, as well as a chance to interact with topnotch people in a very relaxed environment. The Annual Southern California Network Economics and Game Theory Symposium (NEGT) was held on November 3 - 4, 2011.
The Annual Southern California Network Economics and Game Theory Symposium (NEGT) that we began in 2009, is now entering its third year. It is a multi-university, inter-disciplinary academic workshop with significant local, but also national and international participation. The academic focus of the 2 day workshops is on economic and game theoretic problems that arise in communications, networks, power systems and social networks. There is significant participation from Electrical engineers, Computer Scientists and Economists. USC has been co-organizing this annual event jointly with UCLA and Caltech. The first was hosted at USC in 2009, the second at UCLA in 2010, and this year it is going to be at Caltech. Next year, it will return to USC. Each of the last two editions has been a greater success than before, with increasing interest in the symposium beyond Southern California. Over 100 people have participated each in the two editions held so far. This year’s event featured two keynote talks, 14 other invited talks, and poster sessions for students. The Organizing committee for 2011 consists of: Rahul Jain and Simon Wilkie (USC), John Ledyard, Steven Low and Adam Wierman (Caltech), and Mihaela van der Schaar and William Zame (UCLA).
